Summer is hot, humid and sticky! Clothes can be uncomfortable and make you hotter if they are heavy fabrics. The best way for your girls to keep cool and fashionable is a dress. They are light, can be dressed up or down and keep you cool.
When I was young, dresses meant going somewhere fancy that I didn’t particularly want to be and having to stay clean – now I wear them every chance I get. As do my girls. Obviously, dresses come in every color, pattern and cut available, so there’s something for everyone.
We have our favorites, so my girls and I have a breakdown of our summertime apparel right here for you!
We love to wear patterns for all the summer parties and celebrations we’ll be attending. Floral patterns are our favorite – full of color, bold and they make a statement. If you’re on a budget Forever21 has so many options. From wrap dresses to mini’s, everything is affordable and super cute. Teens and adults can find a dress to suite their personality.
What about for your little girl? If she likes to wear dresses, there’s always a great selection at The Children’s Place. The best part about this store is there is always a sale going on. It’s so easy to have an armful of cute outfits your daughter will love.
I love how the dresses come in flowy and fitted styles. It really allows my daughter to feel more independent and explore the styles she likes best and feels the most comfortable in.
If you’re needing something a little fancier, say to attend a wedding, we have you covered. Wedding season is always my excuse to get a sophisticated dress and a great pair of shoes. We love shopping at Nordstrom. They have a huge selection and online shopping is also a breeze. Here are some of my favorite fancier dresses.
I tend to stick with one solid color when I am attending a social event and then play up my makeup and jewelry for a customized look. I may also wear a pop of color on my shoes to add a little flare to my look. If you like to do minimal hair, makeup and jewelry, a nice pattern in neutral tones is always in style.
If your daughter isn’t into dresses but still needs a more formal look than shorts and a t-shirt, the romper is the answer! This magic item is put on like a dress, but is shorts. It’s similar to the 90’s skort but much cuter. Keeping her cool and stylish. All of these outfits are from Nordstrom kids.
My last favorite dress is a simple wrap dress, or maxi dress. We all have 1 or 20 of these. They are the simplest to throw over just about everything. I bring mine to the beach and use it as a cover up for over top of my bathing suit. The wrap style dresses are wonderful to keep you cool, as they are always flowy and airy. With these choices for the summer, you better start shopping!
